Everybody has a right to make a living. Many pharmaceutical sales representatives are very helpful and are very concerned about patient welfare. My offices prescribe generic medications whenever possible for several reasons.

  • They are almost always much cheaper for the patient.
  • Prior Authorizations for name brand medications cause patients to not get their medications in a timely manner.
  • Delay in treatment can often have serious health risks.
  • In most cases, generic medications do just as good of a job as more expensive name brand medications.

From my perspective, it makes no sense to prescribe expensive  name brand medications when there is a generic equivalent that does the same thing. Delays in treatment because a patient cannot afford their medication can have deadly consequences.
